THEME 3: Effects of the War
Theme Context
This theme features pieces that are more emotional, meant to relay relatable messages to the listener. Lyrics referenced war-time terminology or practices to lighten the mood, and sounds were used to generate vivid imaginations about post-war life. There were several different approaches when portraying effects of the war. Some were more depressing, evoking bittersweet melodies to mourn the loss of loved ones, some were lighthearted in an attempt to return to normalcy after tragic times, and others were used to reminisce about the past.
